A Little Song of Thanks

Sharon Gamble, the New England Regional Director of Moms In Touch International, shares this sweet story:
“My youngest child and I used to walk my eldest to school. On the way back, Mary would ‘sing’ to me. I still remember her tiny voice singing about birds, butterflies and the good God who made them. The songs did not rhyme and had no recognizable tune. They welled up out of a happy child’s heart and made my mother’s heart overflow! Mary did not need to sound profound or ‘beautiful.’ She just had to be my Mary, expressing her joy. I loved it!! In the same way, I don’t have to make my prayers sound impressive to please God. I just have to warble a little prayer song of thanks and, because I am His child, it will bring Him joy! As you go about your duties, join me in singing a little song of thanks! May God raise up a generation that loves Him and sings His praises! I wish you ‘music in your heart’ today.”

  1. I am thankful for the faithful moms who have prayed with me for 7 years now. We have laughed and cried together, watched our college freshmen graduate, get jobs, get married...and all the while we have seen His hand at work.

  2. I think often of my children and their handwriting. It starts out with backwords letters and different shapes as they begin school. Then each year of school they get better and better. And guess what? As their mom, I love to watch the progress. I rejoice each time I see improvement. I didn't expect my first grade boy's writing to look like my friends high school girl. I trust my God is rejoicing in my progress as he teaches me step by step how to live the Christian life.

This is a great reminder of a Heavenly Father who is with us each step of the way. Thanks for sharing your story!

  3. I was in the grocery store last week and heard a little voice an aisle over singing "Oh Be Careful little eyes what you see". It was so precious. I didn't know the little girl, but she completely blessed my heart as I grocery shopped. I'm so thankful her mommy was teaching her those songs. I pray her little voice touched other shoppers that day.
