Prayers for Students and Schools Wrapped the Globe on Bless Our Schools Sunday

On Bless Our Schools Sunday, a teacher stopped by a MITI booth for prayer. They prayed for her as a teacher, for her students and that God would raise up a MITI group for her school.

Three boys stood up in their high school youth group and prayed for the students, the staff and the safety on their school campuses.

One church opened up their gym for prayer after each service. A common theme was praying that students will be bold in their faith, especially for See You at the Pole.

On September 19, 2010, the first annual Bless Our Schools Sunday, pastors around the world took a moment to pray for students and schools. Some called the educators forward and the congregation laid hands on them as they prayed. Others had the children come forward for a time of blessing them.

On Facebook, one mom wrote: “We had a precious time praying in both services over our teachers/staff, homeschooling parents, and then the students themselves. It’s an amazing thing to be a part of such huge corporate prayer!”

Another wrote, “I have that same sense of wonder as I did with Arise! Cry Out! All these parts of the body of Christ, taking the time to pray for the next generation, all over the world, on the same day … WOW!”

  1. We had a special prayer time yesterday in our church service for Bless Our Schools Sunday. I enjoyed telling the congregation about a couple of the many answers to prayer that we've seen over the last couple of years. A few months ago, there was a shooting in our district. A couple of high school students' parents were involved in it. When the students came back to school, a small group of Christian students who are part of a student-led Christian group called "Infiltrate" pulled those students aside and prayed with them. It was a very cool thing. Our group also prays for new teachers when there is a vacancy, and we pray for God to bring in Christian teachers. Our prayers were answered in a big way with our district's new Spanish teacher. Not only is he a great teacher who makes learning fun, but he is a great Christian man who is concerned about his students and wants to help encourage the Christians. We are so thrilled!

  2. A picture of her high school senior son as a kindergartner, along with his preschool-aged sister and baby brother was shown on the screen in our worship center as a MITI mom shared how Moms In Touch had blessed her life ever since her oldest was a kindergartner. Then her senior son shared how he had been blessed by the prayers of his mom and the MITI group and the mom asked all students, teachers, and others who were in anyway connected to the schools to stand while she prayed blessing over them. This was followed by the 3 minute Prayer Impact DVD - which still brings tears after many viewings.Several women stopped by the ministry table after wards. It appears that TWO church-based groups will be starting up.

In the afternoon, our community of MITI moms and others joined together to pray over area schools. We were blessed to have a mom from a neighboring town join us; she returned to her town to start a group there.

  3. At our church on the Central California Coast, we invited children ages preschool through college to come forward to be prayed for by the congregation. I was struck by the fact that THEY ALL CAME! Even visiting college students came forward eagerly -- not one seemed to want to miss out on the blessing. We prayed a corporate, responsive prayer over them and teachers and staff. Very powerful.

We also unveiled plans that God has been initiating. We are starting a church-based group that will meet Thursday afternoons. While the moms pray, their children will be learning about Jesus as they participate in a new Kids' Choir! What a creative God we serve!

  4. Our pastor had all the teachers and students in our congregation stand up and he prayed for them. The next week at Sunday School, a friend told us that their son had a bad week at school,(leading up to the MITI Bless our Schools Sunday) and was dealing with bullying. He said the school prayer of blessing was God's perfect timing. It gave them peace and strength to face their trial.
