Announcing: Bless Our Schools Sunday
We’re excited to announce that September 19, 2010, will be our first annual Bless Our Schools Sunday, a time for churches worldwide to pray for children and schools. Our hope is that every year, the third Sunday of September will be a time for pastors to have all the educators (teachers, administrators, staff, school board, etc.) and/or students in their congregation stand or come forward while the pastor prays blessing over them for the coming school year.
Would you be willing to talk with your pastor about Bless Our Schools Sunday?
Pastors will have the freedom to celebrate Bless Our Schools Sunday in a way that best fits his service and congregation. Some might even have a whole sermon based on blessing our schools through prayer and highlight testimonies from MITI moms, teachers and students. Churches are welcome to participate in Bless Our Schools at their Saturday services, as well.
Bless Our Schools Sunday will be a great time for MITI moms to invite others to their Moms In Touch groups.
Imagine the impact this time of prayer will have on that worn-out teacher, the weary principal, the school board member that’s standing up for biblical values, as well as every school in your community.

We are very excited about this event. It is already on our calendar here in Eliot, Maine. What a GREAT way to let students, teachers and staff know that we recognize the challenges they face to be a light at their school and we stand by them in prayer as a church. GREAT idea!!
ReplyDeleteAs a reporter/writer in my career I chose not to support grass-root public casues that I might someday write about in the secular press. Now, retired, I am beginning to shed that restriction. Could anyone disagree with protecting our children with the most powerful weapon we have against evil influences? I see Bless our Schools Day as a gracious, caring way to demonstrate Jesus' love.
ReplyDeleteMy pastor, Kenton Beshore of Mariners Church in Irvine, has been doing this for years. As a teacher who has been blessed not only by him but by the congregation (of hundreds) over the years, it is very powerful and comforting! I am very excited that perhaps thousands more teachers will be similarly blessed and supported. Vicki Schwartz
ReplyDeleteI had just printed off the flier for B.O.S.S., and was sitting at my computer thinking that I would approach our church with the idea in June, when the phone rang. It was the dear gentleman who handles our church "prayer feature" time. I believe God prompted his call so we could get B.O.S.S. on the schedule that day! I've asked our pastor to pray about incorporating the idea into his sermon. We will list the names of all our educators/staff in the bulletin that morning so the congregation remembers to continue prayer for those placed in such a key position, to bless and influence our children! ReplyDeleteI plan to go to several churches in my town to be sure they know about Bless Our Schools Sunday. I can't wait for school to start so i can meet again with my friends for prayer for our kids and their schools.
